I had no functioning buttons except top display light, pop up flash and shutter. I'm CA I could get into the menu but not in M, Tv, Av. Tried leaving the battery out, trying without CF card and nothing. Put into C1 and got the menu up. Couldn't reset settings in that mode. Could also get the menu up in bulb, B, mode. Hi, I used it with a timer to shoot a selfie, then put it back in my bag. 30 min later I turned it on to shoot more, but none of the buttons are working except the shutter button (still with a 10 sec timer) and the Info button that cycles a few options. The menu button, Q/Set, Preview, Trash, Mode, Lock, record, M-Fn, bulb, touch bar do nothing. In the case of (1), unplug the charger’s power plug from the power outlet. Detach and reattach the battery to the charger. Wait a few minutes, then reconnect the power plug to the power outlet. If the problem persists, take the camera to the nearest Canon Service Center.
The LCD screen not working in live camera mode. The screen will work when I set to movie mode and turn on camera otherwise it won't toggle between the two. When in Movie mode the only rear button that works is INFO. The camera does seem to take pictures although it does not let me view them. Also in movie mode thw start/stop botton does not work.
Press the MENU button. 9. Press the MENU button again to return to the shooting screen. Change or Format the Memory Card. When the memory card becomes full, the following screen will be displayed and the shutter will not be released. Please use a different memory card, or initialize the card. CAUTION. The button called "AE lock" is active after the exposure is set "locked", then can be activated again when the button is held down and a picture is taken. When you release the button the camera will re-evaluate the exposure. Also, programmed a button for one shot-servo. If I am in one shot it only switches to servo while I am holding the button. Set the ISO. ISO is the third part of the exposure triangle. To set it, press the ISO button on the top of your camera and then use either the shutter speed dial or the D-pad on the back of the camera to select the ISO you want to use. Press the ISO button again, press the shutter button halfway down, or the use the SET button on the D-pad to

The beach is a camera hostile environment. Both the sand and the salt water are a threat, most especially any water mist and dust. Sounds like you need to contact Canon Support, as soon as possible. Make sure that the “LOCK” button on the rear panel is not in the lock position. You could have a foreign object stuck in a button, too. If everything works in full auto then it seems to me like the problem is not hardware related. Taking out the batteries and doing software update will not reset the custom settings (in this case probably accidentally set). Make sure the Quick Control Dial switch is not set to Lock. Then try resetti Switch off the camera by removing the battery. Now, remove the memory card and wait for a few minutes before you re-install the batteries only and power it on. Then, access the camera menu. From there go to the setup menu and reset the camera to factory defaults. Once it is reset, power the camera down. In this case, delete the camera connection settings from the Wi-Fi settings on the smartphone and set up a connection again. A connection may not be established if Camera Connect is running when you reconfigure connection settings. In this case, quit Camera Connect for a moment and then restart it. Operation problems
On the V1, the flash needs to be in "on camera mode": the LCD backlight should be green (master/on-camera) not orange (slave/off-camera). And you should not see the radio antenna icon. Lastly, make sure your V1 is the Nikon version (V1-N) with the correct foot to match your hotshoe. :D.
Battery is Not in Correctly. The Canon Ae-1 runs on a single 4LR44 or PX-28 battery. It is possible that the battery was put in incorrectly. Open the battery hatch on the front of the camera. Check to see that the positive and negative nodes on the battery align correctly and that the battery is in all the way.

I tried several solutions and by playing with the several of the buttons, the solution was sooo simple. When the camera is on & and in camera mode, press the Start/Stop button to shoot using the View Finder or LCD screen. The LCD screen not working in live camera mode. The screen will work when I set to movie mode and turn on camera otherwise
a) Clean the lens contacts* to restore connection with the body. b) Try using a different memory card. All memory cards should be properly formatted in your camera prior to use. *Warning - Do not clean lens contacts on either a Canon lens or the camera body with an eraser! Try doing a master reset, take the battery out, hold the shutter button down for 30 seconds, refit the battery. If your camera then asks you to reset the time and date then it has reset to factory conditions, if not try the procedure again. If you cannot get it to reset then take the battery out and leave it for a few days, that should do it. To obtain sharp images, hold the camera still to minimize camera shake. (1) Horizontal shooting. (2) Vertical shooting. With your right hand, hold the camera firmly by the camera grip. With your left hand, support the lens from below. Rest your right index finger lightly on the shutter button. Rest your arms and elbows lightly against the front
